Higgins in new board of FIFPro Division Europe
Tuesday 02 February

Tony Higgins has been elected in the board of Division Europe. The president of the Scottish players’ union replaces Austria’s Rudi Novotny.
Recently the board of Division Europe had its first meeting since FIFPro’s general assembly in Budapest, in November 2009. During that congress the members of Division Europe voted for Joachim Evangelista, Tony Higgins and Maria Tsigoni as board members until the congress of 2011.
At the board meeting in Hoofddorp the composition of the board was finalized. Besides Evangelista, Higgins and Tsigoni there were three other members installed: Philippe Piat, Bobby Barnes and Leonardo Grosso. Piat is president of Division Europe. All three are also member of the FIFPro board.
Higgins has been involved with PFA Scotland since his days as a professional football player. At the age of 25 he was chairman of the Scottish union. On behalf of FIFPro, the 55-year old former midfielder is highly involved with matters such as anti-racism (Show Racism the Red Card) and education (FIFPro Online Academy).
