Useful workshop FIFPro Online Academy in Slovenia
Thursday 29 July

For the second time, the Transnational Steering Group Education organized a workshop concerning the establishment of the FIFPro Online Academy. This time, there was a two-day meeting in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.
The 12 players’ associations participating in the FIFPro Online Academy sent 21 delegates to the workshop in Ljubljana. Next to them, there were representatives of FIFPro, the European Commission, the Slovenian Ministry of Education, and Slovenian youth teams present.
The agenda included a discussion about the various forms of online education, and a study of the results of a survey all twelve unions recently carried out among their members. Each association received at least a hundred completed questionnaires.
The research shows for example, that a majority of the players has had a secondary or a vocational education, and that in most of the countries a majority of the players says to be interested in an online education. Sports and Business are the most favoured subjects for studies.
The next meeting of the Transnational Steering Group Education shall take place at the end of this year, while a new workshop is scheduled in January 2011, in Ireland.
