FIFPRO is launching a Global Player Council to strengthen the role of professional footballers in shaping their industry at an international level.

Diana Matheson and Marcel de Jong are the two newest members of the FIFPRO Global Player Council.

Olympique Lyonnais and England defender Lucy Bronze has joined the FIFPRO Global Player Council to help raise the voice of players in the decision-making in professional football.

The FIFPRO Global Player Council (GPC) has held several video conferences in recent weeks, with the impact of COVID-19 on return to play, match calendars and the economic sustainability of the industry among the key items on the agenda.

FIFPRO launched a revamped GPC consisting of 29 active men’s and women’s footballers with international experience,  providing a platform for players to discuss and influence an array of issues in their industry.

American-born Cyprus international Krystyna Freda has spent most of her career in Europe playing in the Finnish, Scottish and, predominantly, Cypriot leagues. After being involved with the Pancyprian Footballers association for a number of years, she officially joins FIFPRO as a member of the Global Player Council.

FIFPRO’s Global Player Council has been strengthened with three new names. The arrival of Rasheedat Ajibade, Enez Mango, and Marshall Munetsi brings the total number of players on the council to 34.

The St Pauli midfielder joins the likes of Lucy Bronze, Giorgio Chiellini, Saki Kumagai and Arturo Vidal in being a member of the Global Player Council, a platform that gives players a voice to help shape their industry.

Simon Mignolet (Belgium) and Rui Patricio (Portugal) bring a wealth of experience to the Global Player Council – an initiative which puts men’s and women’s players at the heart of decision-making in international football.
