  • Find out which Barça stars made the Women's World 11

The 2023/24 season was certainly a memorable one for Barcelona: four titles won out of a possible four, including the Women's Champions League. Such dominance was reflected with a notable Barça presence in the 2024 FIFPRO Women's World 11.

The vote of women's football players from all over the world determined that four Barcelona players were to be rewarded with World 11 places. Players were asked to vote for their peers based on their performances between 21 August 2023 and 10 August 2024 inclusive.

FIFPRO.org presents the players who made the 2024 Women's World 11 after impressing for Barcelona last season.

Lucy Bronze

Age: 33
Position: Defender
World 11 appearances: 7

Having lifted five Women's Champions Leagues with Olympique Lyonnais and Barcelona, Lucy Bronze – now at Chelsea – has certainly demonstrated her consistency at the top. Physically tough, Bronze's defensive and attacking skills as a right-back were key to coach Jonatan Giraldez's successful 2023/24 campaign.

Bronze’s inclusion in the 2024 World 11 means the defender has now equalled the current women’s appearance record (7) she shares with France’s Wendie Renard.

What they said about Bronze

"When she gets the ball and she's driving with it, there's not many that can stop her."
Fran Kirby, Bronze's England team-mate

Aitana Bonmati

Age: 26
Position: Midfielder
World 11 appearances: 2

As Xavi Hernandez would say, Bonmati ‘has Barcelona's DNA’. A leader and organiser of the game, skilful with both feet, with a great competitive spirit, Bonmati has been crucial to Barça's success.

Although Bonmati's influence on the game cannot be simply reduced to numbers, her 18 goals and 19 assists in the season are remarkable.

What they said about Bonmati

"She is a role model as a player. Her way of training, her attitude, the way she deals with every day, is a great example."
Jonatan Giraldez, Bonmati's coach at Barcelona until 2024

Alexia Putellas

Age: 30
Position: Midfielder
World 11 appearances: 2

After a 2022/23 season almost entirely hampered by a knee injury, Putellas made a slow return to the pitch but, when it was her turn to play, she did so displaying the magic that has made her a world reference in previous seasons.

In addition to her talent and natural ability on the ball, the Barcelona captain is also a versatile player: she can play on the left, as a midfielder or even as a false nine if necessary. She was not always a starter, but Putellas also contributed when she had to come off the bench – such as with a goal in the Women's Champions League final against Olympique Lyonnais.

What they said about Putellas

"Alexia's presence gives us a lot in terms of both football and morale."
Jonatan Giraldez, Putellas' coach at Barcelona until 2024

Keira Walsh

Age: 27
Position: Midfielder
World 11 appearances: 3

Walsh has demonstrated time and again why she is a key part of Barcelona's midfield. She brings her quality with the ball at her feet, her understanding of the game, her way of moving the ball and her ability to find the best pass, whether it is to play short to build up play or to filter the ball through the opposition defence.

Although her zone of influence is generally in the opposition's half, in the Women's Champions League she was also able to make an impact in positions further back.

What they said about Walsh

"For me it's a pleasure to play with her because we understand each other perfectly."
