Dynamo Kiev striker Andriy Yarmolenko has been voted Ukraine's player of the year.

Yarmolenko, 27, (pictured left) was selected by fellow footballers and was handed the trophy -- a golden ball -- by former Dynamo great Andriy Shevchenko.

Olha Ovdiychuk, a 23-year-old forward for FC Zhitlobud-1 Kharkiv was voted best female player.

In the picture (below right), she and Yarmolenko pose with their awards next to Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, the former Shakhtar Donetsk and Bayern Munich player.

It's the first time Ukraine's player union has organized the poll and ceremony called "Football Stars of Ukraine."

The winners in the other categories were:

Best young player: Viktor Kovalenko (Shakhtar Donetsk) (above left)

Best women's team coach: Natalia Zinchenko (Zhitlobud-2 Kharkiv)

Best men's team coach: Yuriy Vernydub (Zorya Luhansk)

Best 11 players:

Goalkeeper: Andriy Pyatov (Shakhtar Donetsk)

Defenders: Darijo Srna, Yaroslav Rakitskiy (both Shakhtar Donetsk), Evgeniy Khacheridi (Dynamo Kiev), Eduard Sobol (Zorya Luhansk)

Midfielders: Fred, Viktor Kovalenko, Taras Stepanenko (all Shakhtar Donetsk)

Forwards: Andriy Yarmolenko, Junior Moraes (both Dynamo Kiev), Marlos (Shakhtar Donetsk).
