FIFPro was present at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport to oversee the arrival of Zahir Belounis, the French-Algerian footballer who was trapped in Qatar. He arrived in the French capital to a waiting throng of the world’s international media.

The moment was captured, in the attached video link, with the assistance of FIFPro’s French union member, UNFP.

Zahir Belounis received the support of FIFPro, the World Footballers’ Association which represents some 60 thousand professional footballers all over the globe, to provide advice and help ensure his immediate needs are met as he transitions from the ordeal in Qatar to a new life back home in Paris.

Representatives from the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), including its General-Secretary Sharan Burrow, were also on hand, together with Abdeslam Ouaddou, the Moroccan footballer who shares a similar story to Zahir Belounis in that he too was prevented by his club from leaving Qatar, earlier this year.
