The Colombian striker is one of 26 finalists in the running for the team of the year, which will reward the most outstanding players for their performances during the period between 21 August 2023 and 10 August 2024. A total of eight attackers have been nominated, of which at least three will be chosen by the votes of their fellow professionals.

The remaining nominees in the women's forward category are Spain's Athenea and Salma Paralluelo, England's Lauren James and Alessia Russo, Brazil's Marta, Zambia's Barbra Banda and Malawi's Tabitha Chawinga.

Caicedo's 2023/24 season

Caicedo excelled on the left of Real Madrid's attack during the Liga F, in which they finished a creditable runners-up to Barcelona, domestic and European champions.

Caicedo scored five goals, provided four assists and completed 46 dribbles in the tournament. She also scored two goals in the Copa de la Reina, where the club reached the quarter-finals.

At national team level, the striker played a leading role in Colombia's successful Women's Olympic Football Tournament Paris 2024; Los Cafeteros reached the quarter-finals and lost on penalties to reigning world champions Spain.

Caicedo in the Women's World 11

At just 19 years of age, Caicedo is in the running to make the FIFPRO Women's World 11 for the first time. Incidentally, she could be voted into the team of the year alongside Marta, her childhood hero.

It is the first time Caicedo has made the list of 26 finalists shortlisted for the World 11. Despite her eye-catching form at the Women's World Cup 2023, Caicedo failed to make the cut last year to make the shortlist, which last season consisted of 23 players.

Post of the Year

“I can't say I have fulfilled all my dreams; I want to win many important trophies, both individually and collectively.”
