FIFPRO Africa and FIFPRO Asia/Oceania have formalised a strategic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration and advancing player representation across the most dynamic and diverse regions in world football.

The agreement was signed by President of FIFPRO Asia/Oceania, Beau Busch, and President of FIFPRO Africa, Geremie Njitap, at FIFPRO’s General Assembly held in Lisbon, Portugal on 18-20 November 2025.

The agreement is based on a shared commitment to improving standards for over 20,000 professional footballers by establishing closer ties between the two FIFPRO divisions. 

Through the agreement, both parties will work together on initiatives that enhance governance, player welfare, research, and commercial opportunities.

The partnership will involve:

  • Sharing information and best practice in membership support, communications, research, legal affairs, and administration;
  • Coordinating efforts to address issues affecting African players in Asia and Oceania, and Asian players in Africa;
  • Tackling common challenges such as scheduling, extreme heat, prevention of trafficking, and improving workplace environments;
  • Launching joint projects to build leadership capacity and strengthen governance structures;
  • Engaging in mutual representation at major events, including General Assemblies;
  • Exploring commercial opportunities in both regions; and
  • Aligning policies and delivering collaborative training programmes to enhance organisational resilience.

FIFPRO Asia/Oceania represents 6,000 professional players within its 10 member unions, while FIFPRO Africa’s 11 member unions represent 14,000 professional players.

Secretary General of FIFPRO Asia/Oceania Shoko Tsuji said that thousands of professional players would benefit from the increased collaboration between the Divisions.

"Collaboration is key to addressing the evolving needs of players in a globalised football industry and we have identified there are many shared opportunities and challenges across our Divisions.

"This agreement allows us to combine strengths and deliver meaningful impact for thousands of players across multiple continents."

FIFPRO Africa Secretary General Kgosana Masaseng reiterated the importance of the new partnership. He said: “This MoU is a significant step towards building stronger connections between our regions. By working together, we can better serve players and ensure their voices are heard on issues that matter most.

"By sharing resources and expertise, the two divisions aim to create unique solutions for shared challenges and unlock new opportunities for players and member unions."
