FIFPRO South America and the Paraguayan Footballers’ Association (FAP) opened their new headquarters in Paraguay’s capital, Asuncion, on Thursday. The new building will serve as an administrative centre for the division and the national union, as well as a space dedicated to the education and wellbeing of professional footballers across the region.
The opening marks another step towards strengthening the institutional presence of FAP and FIFPRO South America and enhancing their capacity to support player unions and footballers across the continent.
“When you look back over the years and see what we have managed to build, you are filled with a range of emotions and a sense of pride,” said Sergio Marchi, President of FIFPRO and FIFPRO South America. “It is a historic moment, and this is a project that will stand the test of time. But this must be a starting point, not the finishing line.”
Rogelio Delgado, President of FAP, said: “This new headquarters is the home of footballers and their unions in South America. It is a space where we can continue to grow, work together and strengthen our representation across the region.”
The first floor houses FIFPRO South America’s executive offices, alongside collaborative workspaces, meeting rooms and other areas designed to support the division’s activities.
The remaining three floors are dedicated to services and activities for footballers. The ground floor will host training sessions, workshops and institutional development activities. The second floor focuses on health and sports performance, featuring consultation rooms for specialists, kinesiology and physiotherapy facilities, a gym for sports assessment and recovery, fully equipped changing rooms and spa facilities.
The third floor provides a social space designed to strengthen members’ sense of belonging and foster camaraderie.
“We are very proud to have this wonderful space and a dedicated team ready to support everyone who comes here,” said Gamadiel Garcia, General Secretary of FIFPRO South America.
The opening followed the division’s General Assembly and was attended by representatives of unions from across the region, officials and prominent figures from Paraguayan football, including Roque Santa Cruz, Roberto ‘Toro’ Acuna, Jonathan Santana, Lucas Barrios and Roberto ‘Gato’ Fernandez.
