The FIFPRO World 11 is the only global football award decided exclusively by professional footballers. Voted by the players, for the players, it recognises the outstanding performers in every position.
The finalists for the 2026 FIFPRO Men’s World 11 and FIFPRO Women’s World 11 will be announced on Monday 2 November, before the winning teams are revealed on Monday 9 November across FIFPRO’s digital platforms.
Ahead of the announcement, FIFPRO looks back at some of the standout facts, figures and records from World 11 history – featuring Lucy Bronze, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wendie Renard and more.
8
Lucy Bronze holds the record for the most Women’s World 11 appearances, having been selected eight times. The England defender is followed by France’s Wendie Renard (7) and USA’s Alex Morgan (6).

9
Only nine goalkeepers have featured in the Men’s World 11 since its launch in 2005. Iker Casillas leads the way with five appearances, followed by Manuel Neuer (4), Gianluigi Buffon (3), Alisson Becker (2), Thibaut Courtois (2), Gianluigi Donnarumma (2), Dida (1), David de Gea (1) and Ederson (1).

Gianluigi Buffon holds the record for the longest gap between Men’s World 11 appearances. The Italian goalkeeper was selected in 2006 and 2007 before returning to the team a decade later, in 2017.
17
No player has made more World 11 appearances than Lionel Messi (17). The Argentinian was first selected in 2007, alongside players including Fabio Cannavaro, Ronaldinho and Didier Drogba, and appeared in every edition through to 2023. Cristiano Ronaldo ranks second with 15 appearances.

21
Portuguese players have made a combined 21 Men’s World 11 appearances, shared among just six footballers: Cristiano Ronaldo (15), Ruben Dias (2), Joao Cancelo (1), Nuno Mendes (1), Bernardo Silva (1) and Vitinha (1). Portugal rank third for total appearances, behind Spain (49) and Brazil (36).
28
England is the most represented country in Women’s World 11 history, with 28 appearances from 12 players since the award was introduced in 2015. Lucy Bronze (8), Keira Walsh (3) and Millie Bright (3) account for half of that total.
49
Spanish players have made a record 49 Men’s World 11 appearances, shared among 15 footballers. Pedri and Lamine Yamal joined that list in 2025, following Sergio Ramos (11), Andres Iniesta (9), Xavi Hernandez (6), Iker Casillas (5), Gerard Pique (4), Carles Puyol (3), Xabi Alonso (2), Fernando Torres (2), Dani Carvajal (1), David de Gea (1), Rodri (1), Thiago (1) and David Villa (1).

A total of 152 footballers have been selected for the Men’s and Women’s World 11. Since 2005, 93 players have featured in the men’s team, while 59 have appeared in the women’s team since its introduction in 2015.
