FIFPRO is the global representative of professional men’s and women’s footballers worldwide. With 68 affiliated national player unions and associations across the world, we are committed to defending the rights, position, and employment conditions of professional footballers in their working environments.

Through its committed staff at the head office, FIFPRO serves its members and players worldwide via internal teams covering legal, men’s and women’s football policy, communications, finance, and union and player relations, services and support.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced HR Manager who enjoys combining hands-on HR delivery with strategic advice and organisational development. You will help FIFPRO further professionalise its HR practices while ensuring that employees and managers receive reliable, practical support in their day-to-day work.

You are an independent, proactive professional with sound judgement and the confidence to advise and challenge constructively. You set clear priorities, take ownership and follow through. Accuracy, discretion and integrity are essential, as is sensitivity to different cultural backgrounds.

As FIFPRO’s sole HR professional, you will take ownership of a broad HR portfolio across various FIFPRO entities. The role combines approximately 50 percent operational delivery with 50 percent strategic development. You will move comfortably between, for example, maintaining accurate personnel records, supporting a sensitive employee matter and advising on the organisation’s future people needs.

You will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The role is not part of the Executive Management Team and does not involve any travel.

You will work with colleagues from a range of international backgrounds in a collaborative environment. The role is based at FIFPRO House in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands.

What you will be doing

Your responsibilities cover both the daily running of HR and the development of people practices that support FIFPRO’s long-term goals.

Operational HR

  • Manage all personnel administration (e.g. personnel records, leave administration, employee insurance policies, pension arrangements, staff employment contracts).
  • Own the salary administration and payroll cycle end to end, including all payroll changes (e.g. salary changes, allowances), wage tax and social security compliance, in collaboration with the external payroll provider.
  • Handle payslip questions and provide first-line HR support.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding and off-boarding.
  • Coordinate expatriate relocation with the external relocation company and monitor agreed arrangements and specific allowances.
  • Coordinate sickness, absence and reintegration with managers and the occupational health provider.
  • Support performance reviews and development plans.
  • Maintain compliant HR processes and advise on employee relations, workplace conflicts and termination cases, involving legal specialists if required.
  • Support HR budget preparation, monitor personnel and training costs against budget, and provide reports to the COO and Finance as requested.

Strategic HR

  • Develop and implement HR policies.
  • Maintain job classification and remuneration framework.
  • Coordinate the annual employee survey and propose improvements to employee development and retention.
  • Coach managers to strengthen leadership and team effectiveness, and advise on organisational structure, workforce planning and potential growth assessing the capabilities and capacity FIFPRO needs.
  • Coordinate agreed employee engagement and culture initiatives, promoting psychological safety, constructive feedback and accountability.
  • Monitor developments in employment legislation and HR practices, identify opportunities for improvement and implement agreed changes.

Need to have

  • A completed bachelor’s degree in HR.
  • At least 7 years of relevant HR experience, combining strategic responsibility with hands-on operational delivery.
  • Strong working knowledge of Dutch employment law and experience handling complex employee relations and termination cases.
  • HR Experience in an international multicultural working environment.
  • Experience in organisational development, culture change and employee development.
  • Proven experience owning salary administration and payroll, including Dutch wage tax, social security compliance and monitoring personnel and training costs against budget.
  • Strong HR reporting skills with the ability to translate HR data into accurate reports and clear insights.
  • Fluency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
  • Willingness to work 32 hours per week, primarily at our office in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands.
  • Preferably already based in the Netherlands.

Nice to have

  • Experience working in a matrix organisation.
  • An understanding of trade unions.
  • Knowledge of French or Spanish.

What we offer

  • A competitive salary, depending on experience.
  • An attractive benefits package, including a 13th-month salary and a good pension scheme.
  • A company laptop and mobile phone.
  • A modern and welcoming workplace at FIFPRO House in Hoofddorp.
  • The opportunity to work in an international, multicultural organisation with colleagues from around the world.

For FIFPRO, equity, diversity and inclusion are key to our success and long-term sustainability. Whether that’s at FIFPRO House or when representing football players worldwide, we are intentional about the culture we are building and the values we represent. At FIFRO we value diversity – in backgrounds, in experiences and of thought – and our work to advance equity, diversity and inclusion is not an add-on but everyone’s responsibility.

FIFPRO is committed to building a culturally diverse team and creating a positive, inclusive working environment where everyone feels valued. Don’t meet every requirement? We still encourage you to apply. Research shows that women and people from marginalised communities are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every listed qualification. At FIFPRO, we look beyond a checklist to find the right person for a role and welcome applications from traditionally marginalised groups. If this role excites you, we’d love to hear from you.
